They tell you digital transformation fails because of bad technology. Convenient lie.
It fails because the director who championed it moves roles eight months in. It fails because the software is flawless and nobody ever explained to the people using it why they should break a ten-year habit. It fails because everyone measures the “go-live” and nobody measures the Monday after, when the kick-off excitement is already dust.
I’ve watched networks serving hundreds of thousands of users grind to a halt — not because of a bug, but because nobody asked the people using it every day what they actually thought.
The technology, almost always, works. It’s the organisation that isn’t ready to make it work. And that’s a sentence no vendor will ever say to you, because it doesn’t sell licenses.
